In Solidarity with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh

In Solidarity with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh

In Solidarity

On behalf of Al-Madinah Center, As-Salam Mosque, Association Salam (Peace) of Montreal, IQRA Foundation and the Muslim community of downtown Montréal, we would like to express our sincere sadness and sorry for this barbaric act in the Pittsburgh synagogue last Saturday.  We truly believe that such hatred shall have no place in North America in the twenty first century. We do believe that this act of hate is not only directed against the local Jewish community in Pittsburgh but it is a terrorism attack against all faiths and the values that we hold as peoples of faith all over the world.

Muslims in Montreal and all over the world condemn this act and all acts of hate against any individuals or groups. The growing hate speech is alarming. We are witnessing the rise of bigoted actions against faith groups and other minorities.

We want every member of the Jewish community to know that we will continue to stand in solidarity and are willing to help however needed. Finally, we believe that Allah tests humanity in many ways in order to bring them closer to Him. “Give good tiding to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, ‘Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return’”. We are here to support you and stand with you during these difficult times; as allies, friends, neighbors and grand sons of Abraham.

In peace, with full sincerity and respect,

  • Association Salam (Paix) de Montreal
  • Centre Al-Madinah
  • As-Salam Mosque
  • IQRA Foundation

Zakat ul Fitr is $10/person in Canada in 2018.

Sadaqat al-fitr is obligatory upon every Muslim who is self-supporting, if he has one saa’ or more than he needs of food for himself and his family on the day and night of Eid.

The basis for that is the report narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined zakaat al-fitr, a saa’ of dates, or a saa’ of barley, upon all the Muslims, slave and free, male and female, young and old, and he commanded that it be paid before the people went out to pray.” Agreed upon; this version was narrated by al-Bukhaari.

And Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri narrated: “We used to pay zakaat al-fitr when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was alive, a saa’ of food or a saa’ of dates or a saa’ of barley or a saa’ of raisins or a saa’ of dried yoghurt.” Agreed upon.
